SpeedShack
was founded
15 years ago in september 1990 by the current owner Steve
Law. Its beginnings were in a15x15 sq.foot area in the back
of a car showroom in Hayes, Middx, called 'Ed
Turners' who specialised in sales of Modified Road-
Cars, Kit Cars and Street Rods. Steve had managed the car
showroom for 3 years before setting up shop for himself
initially on the same premises. He was influenced early
on by 1980's Custom Car shows, Chelsea Cruise & the
Drag Racing scene (which he is still involved with), and
magazines of the time such as Street Machine & Custom
Car & CCC. Steve had been heavily into modified cars
since leaving school, and rarely had enough spare cash to
buy all new parts. He had regularly been frustrated trying
to find those lucrative sports parts in breakers yards for
the car he was fixing up at the time. So the idea was to
set up shop buying & selling second-hand sports parts
for popular cars, particularly Fords, to help people such
as himself, and save endless trips to the breakers and repying
to free ads only to find the part they wanted was sold....
SpeedShack
has been on the current site for 13 years, and in 2005 we celebrate our 15th anniversary. Although
still a relatively small shop frontage, the shop carries a huge
and fascinating range of New and Used Fast Road & Motorsport
parts. Its description as 'An Aladdins cave of Road and
Motorsport parts' is particularly well deserved.
SpeedShack advertise
in many major car magazines including FAST FORD, CLASSIC
FORD, PERFORMANCE FORD, REVS, STREET GASSER, CUSTOM CAR,
AMERICAN CAR WORLD, RETRO CARS, CLASSICS, PRACTICAL PERFORMANCE
CAR and others on occasion.

department now a major part of the SpeedShack business.
As well as being
behind the counter, the proprietor and the staff are all
car enthusiasts.
We believe our
major advantage over large chain stores is a better and
more personal service with good advice, which in an enthusiast
driven market is essential, especially if we are to expect
repeat custom and verbal recommendations. We aim to give
a friendly and helpful service, and althougth sales are
our reason for being, we like to think that at SpeedShack
you will be treated as a person and not a walking wallet.
